RCI Welcomes Shannon McDaniel to our Water Rights Team
RCI is pleased to welcome Shannon McDaniel, PE, WRS to RCI’s water rights team. Shannon graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer and water rights surveyor in the State of Nevada.
Prior to joining the RCI team, Shannon worked for the Nevada Division of Water Resources for nearly 10 years. She began in the hydrology section, performing water level measurements, pumpage inventories and the associated reports. Over the years, she worked her way up, reviewing extensions of time for filing proofs of completion and beneficial use, reviewing tentative and final subdivision maps, reviewing proofs of beneficial use submittals, and becoming the project manager for the TCID Water Rights Mapping Project within the water rights section and creating and teaching the Well Drilling Regulations and Forms course, managing the well driller licensing program and performing well drilling site inspections and the video logging of wells in the well drilling regulations section. Shannon performed regular basin engineering duties including water rights application review, drafting permit terms, performing field investigations and drafting certificates, rulings and orders. Most recently, Shannon was the Chief of the Well Drilling Regulations and Adjudications Sections, managing and developing 12 staff, performing the review of water right application recommendations, proposing, and adopting amendments to NAC 534, assisting the Nevada Division of Minerals with the proposal and adoption of amendments to NAC 534A and developing and implementing DWR office policies and procedures.
She has a lot to share with her new coworkers as she loves cats, soccer, traveling, camping and just generally being outdoors and volunteers with social activities throughout Carson City. She is also an active member of the Nevada Water Resources Association.
Shannon brings a great depth of knowledge regarding Nevada’s unique water challenges and we are delighted to welcome her to the RCI team.
