Business of the Year Award for RCI

Resource Concepts Inc. is pleased to announce that we have been presented with the Business of the Year award by the Foundation for the Betterment of Carson City Parks and Recreation. The mission of the Foundation is to bring together members of the community to encourage strong support for the enhancement of Parks and Recreation facilities. Every year the Foundation honors local individuals, organizations and businesses who have contributed to the improvement of Carson City’s parks and recreation facilities. The award will be presented in a ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at 4:30 p.m. at the monument at the entrance to the Pony Express Pavilion in Mills Park.

RCI has enjoyed a strong relationship with the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department for many years. We have been extremely fortunate to work with the Department on several projects this year, including water rights, a management plan for open space land, an erosion control plan for Ash Canyon as well as on-going assistance with fuel reduction in the wildland-urban-interface. The City’s cooperative sheep grazing plan for fuels reduction as a treatment to help avoid future catastrophic wildfire has been the focus of much interest from other communities throughout the West who are experiencing similar threats from wildfire at the wildland-urban-interface. A successful grant was secured by RCI on behalf of the City to continue implementing the fuels management plan, including assessment of several spring sources that can be developed for wildlife in the watershed on City owned lands.
