Fish Habitat Mitigation
In June 2009, a team of two performed fish habitat mitigation monitoring on a (first-order) perennial creek draining directly to the Tahoe Basin. Fish habitat displaced by recent pier construction in the lake was mitigated with fish habitat improvements to the creek to facilitate spawning. One team member seine netted the creek for six species of native and nonnative fish while the second member sampled the benthic macroinvertebrate population for density and diversity. The creek will be surveyed in this manner twice a year for three years in order to satisfy a special condition of a TRPA permit.
