Construction:

Construction of Phase I of the Waterfall Fire Watershed Assessment project began in late January. The project consists of constructing a small sedimentation basin, and conveyance rock structure upstream of the Longranch Subdivision and below the Carson City Water Treatment Plant. Work includes a small basin, piping, a rock-lined dry stream bed, a construction access road, temporary erosion control and re-vegetation. This project captures sediment from the Waterfall Fire burn area before the sediment reaches city streets and drainage pipes. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid April this year.
