Environmental Permitting for Mining Projects
Resource Concepts, Inc. has conducted the field investigations and prepared the environmental documentation for a variety of mining projects in Nevada, California, and New Mexico. The following paragraphs are examples of our services.
California Silver Mining Company / Colorado Hill – Zaca Mine EA / Toiyabe National Forest
RCI, working in cooperation with several other consulting firms, prepared a third-party Environmental Assessment (EA) regarding the proposed construction and operation of an open pit silver mine in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. RCI was responsible for describing the existing situation and potential impacts resulting from project implementation to wildlife, range, and timber resources. Fulfillment of the project objectives required intensive fieldwork and data collection including small mammal transects, bird inventories, range inventory, and timber stand evaluations.
Hycroft Resources and Development & Winnemucca District Bureau of Land Management/Crowfoot Mine Environmental Assessment
RCI was retained by Hycroft Resources and Development and the Winnemucca District Office of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to prepare a third-party Environmental Assessment (EA) for a gold mine and heap-leach recovery process in Humboldt County, Nevada. The EA includes a description of the affected environment, a discussion of the environmental consequences of the project, and proposed mitigation measures to minimize any adverse effects of the project. Issues identified within the EA includes the potential effects to historical and archeological resources within the area, the identification of state air and water quality standards to be met by the project, the potential for mine reclamation efforts, and methods to minimize potential adverse impacts to wildlife during the heap-leach recovery process.
Fury Explorations, Austin District U.S. Forest Service/Grantsville Mine Environmental Assessment
RCI was retained by Fury Exploration and the Austin District Office of the U.S. Forest Service to prepare a third-party Environmental Assessment (EA) for a silver mine and heap-leach recovery process. This EA includes a description of the affected environment, a discussion of the environmental consequences of the project, and proposed mitigation measures to minimize any adverse effects of the project. Issues identified within the EA included the potential effects to historical resources within the area, and methods to minimize potential adverse impacts to wildlife, vegetation, and hydrology, as well as the potential for mine reclamation efforts. Under very tight time constraints to allow the mining company to begin production at the earliest possible time, the entire project was completed within eight weeks, facilitated by RCI’s in-depth knowledge of Great Basin natural resources.
