Streets and Highway Improvements
Resource Concepts, Inc. provides design services for streets and highways and also conducts route studies. The following projects are examples of our recent projects:
Lincoln County Regional Transportation Commission Capitol Improvements Program.
The goal of this project is to provide a justifiable Capitol Improvements Program (CIP) to permit Lincoln County’s Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) and to recommend priority projects for inclusion in Nevada Department of Transportation’s (NDOT’s) Transportation Plan. The primary goal in developing a CIP is to provide Lincoln County’s RTC with factual and persuasive information to assist in the implementation of a realistic and viable plan. The plan must contain acceptable strategies to guide Lincoln County in taking a multitude of preliminary steps to be in a position to meet objectives that are planned for well into the future. Such a strategy should be at a level of detail to satisfy the agency’s criteria for justifying improvements, as well as to provide sufficient information to promote participation by private interests.
To this point, the project has entailed detailed data collection for roadways within Lincoln County, including pertinent data from NDOT on roadway classifications, traffic, and crash data, as well as collection of Lincoln County data, such as mapping and classification of County Roads in addition to other special project information). RCI has also completed a field evaluation of key and/or representative roadways throughout Lincoln County.
Town of Minden –County Road Project
This project includes work on five blocks along the north side of County Road between 1st Street and 8th Street in the Town of Minden. A portion of the work entails piping an existing drainage/irrigation ditch to provide an area on the north side of County Road suitable for a meandering walking path. The remaining portion of the work involves the installation of sidewalk, accessible corner ramps, lighting, and landscaping.
Town of Minden – First Street Improvements
This project included sidewalk, curb and gutter, lighting, and landscape work on 1st Street in the Town of Minden. First Street was modified and widened into a one-way street to provide additional downtown parking for Town activities and the future Arts Council Theater located in the old Copeland Building on First Street. Lighting will be completed on the project at the same time as the County Road project, as the lights are to be fed from the same source. RCI obtained permitting from NDOT and Douglas County to alter a roadway entering Highway 395.
