James Koch, CEM

Lab Manager, Geologist, Senior Field Technician

Mr. Koch is a Senior Field Special Inspector and Geologist with over twenty-five years’ experience in environmental and geotechnical sampling and construction inspection. Mr. Koch performs all phases of environmental investigations, including soil and water sampling, excavation and trenching supervision, test pit excavation, soil boring, monitoring well installation, and well surveying. Mr. Koch has experience in auger, mud rotary, air rotary, coring, and well installation techniques.

Mr. Koch also supervises and performs special inspections for reinforced concrete, structural masonry and field-testing of construction materials. Geotechnical experience includes field observations and testing for soil subgrade, embankments, foundation excavations, utility trenches, aggregate base and asphalt materials.

Additionally, Mr. Koch serves as Lab Manager and oversees RCI’s materials testing laboratory. He is responsible for materials testing services, certifications, safety, and training of technicians and field personnel. Mr. Koch performs and oversees all material tests within the lab, which includes soil testing, concrete strength testing, reinforcing steel strength evaluation, masonry strength testing, and asphalt concrete evaluation.
