Heavenly Valley Ski Area

PREVIOUSLY DISTURBED UPLAND

A previously disturbed upland area was chosen as the wetland creation site for wetland mitigation.

FIRST GROWING SEASON

Initial grading was modified during the first growing season to improve surface hydrology.

CREATED WETLANDS

The created wetlands were entirely vegetated with indigenous soils and plant material salvaged from the existing wetlands, prior to impact.

COMPLETE WETLAND MITIGATION

Complete wetland mitigation was achieved by reestablishing 100% of the functions and values of the impacted site, including invertebrate and tree frog populations.
