John L. McLain, CRMC/CPESC, Principal

Principal Resource & Rangeland Specialist

Mr. McLain has administrative and technical responsibility for work performed by the Resources Section which includes: public lands, environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, wetlands, revegetation, erosion control, mine reclamation, watershed analysis, cultural resources, and biomass energy resources. Mr. McLain has extensive background in resource assessment and planning with units of government, organizations, and individuals. Mr. McLain serves as an expert witness providing legal testimony on technical resource issues, provides technical review of proposed state and federal policy and legislation, and coordinates with agencies and private interests to resolve resource conflicts. Mr. McLain has provided testimony before the House of Representatives Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs concerning public lands management. He also actively works on lobbying assignments in Washington, D.C. on behalf of clients and the Land Grant Colleges.

Mr. McLain has over 30 years of experience with natural resources assessments and management throughout Nevada and the Great Basin region. He is a Certified Range Management Consultant (CRMC) and Certified Professional Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Specialist (CPESC) and has provided professional services to projects that included: DOE proposed railway impact study, Lincoln County HCP, N-4 and other State Grazing Board grazing issues, plans and challenges, Pinyon-Juniper woodland studies, and statewide community wildfire risk/hazard assessments for 240 communities under the Nevada Community Wildfire Risk/Hazard Assessment Project. Mr. McLain has also been an influence in collaborative statewide wildfire presuppression planning.
